The longest summer has ended

 I know it has been a long period without sharing any news.

At the beginning of this year I promised to me to write at least a post per month.

But the summer came and I have had no time for keeping the promises.

I have finished many projects some of them non quilting or sewing, but I am happy and satisfied with the results.

Anyway I am here and hope we will enjoy together again.

A 3D Christmas star has captured my thoughts many months because love too much geometry and EPP.

I have stolen some time to design it and write a pattern.

Made a star for a gift or for decoration. 

It is really funny.

 

Counting sheep and the baby quilt

Have the babies to count sheep for falling asleep?

I am not sure. Especially when they have a loving grandmas that prepare warming quilts.

Judy Collier bought my pattern Counting Sheep and made this beautiful quilt for her "grandchild on the way". 

When I asked her to send picture of finished quilt I was not expected to receive something. You know, people are too busy nowdays and  full with e-mails, messages and pictures.

I was wrong!

She was so kind to send pictures and surprised me with finished baby quilt.

Look at this amazing  result!

 
 

Look at the quilting she had chosen. So many sheep up to the hills.

During the process of sewing she asked me for assistance - she had idea to put the grass between the sheep, but nowhere through internet she found a pattern.

I was glad to design some blocks, even suggested to make a mirror images for having more grass paper pieced blocks.

Thank you, Judy, for this idea, I will add to the pattern.

So happy to have such customers.

They make me proud with my designing abilities and computer skills.

Halloween pumpkin quilt block

 Happy to announce the finished paper pieced block on 1 of September.

The pattern is very versatile - you could rotate or make a mirror block so the quilt surface will be interesting.

I made a test block which intend to implement in a cushion case.

Love and beyond

The month of Love began.

February if you wander.
Although for me each day have to be filled with love.

Here is winter and warmth of home push me to sew more things.
The ideas come in my head and with Internet :)

Happy Valentine

You are my Valentine!
Better way to say this words is to make a mug rug for your sweat Heart.
The idea came to me last Summer, but the health problems stopped me to make a pattern.
Now it is finished. I am satisfied.

Time for Christmas or Christmas time

The preparations began right after Halloween. Or much more earlier in July.
When do you begin?
For me is different every year.
It depends of the mood and the weather.
Now outside is a splendid autumn so thinking and preparing something for Christmas is almost impossible.
But designing this Christmas tree was so fast and funny.

After drawing with EQ7 began coloring .
At the beginning the tree was very bold - only in green colors.

After one false movement of the mouse there appeared  new possibilities.

Different background looks like the winding way, don't you think?

The Gravatar passion continues

One month!
I can not believe it has gone one month without posting here.
Uploading picture on Flickr seems to be an action from last century.
Instagram with device in a palm and fast comments pushed himself to the most usable media.
Anyway I will try to post once a month or often.

The gravatar passion continues. I have designed all the seasons and make them in a wall hanging.
Not finished yet but waiting for binding :)
After Summer gravatar I make the Spring.

Easy to sew you can make it different sizes.

Here comes the Autumn.

 The more complicated pieces are the central ones. The easiest way to stitch them is freezer paper.
Fast and accurate method when needed to sew many simple and repeated blocks.


I used hand dyed fabrics to sew all the gravatars.

Finished wall hanging will be in next post with the pattern of winter.

Summer gravatar

I am hooked on designing gravatars. After spring pattern hot summer is coming
For this one I used hand dyed fabrics and batiks that remind me summer heat, summer colors. Pretty much satisfied with the result. As background I have used many pieces - different shades of white .

 If you are more confident with freezer paper don't hesitate to use it.
You will save time with no tearing off the paper.

Combine some different colors - you will have a sunny baby quilt.

Gravatar paper pieced block pattern

What is a Gravatar?

When browsing different web sites, you may notice that many users have a picture next to their name. These pictures are called "avatars." WordPress, however, uses a specific type of avatar called "Gravatars"--short for "Globally Recognized Avatar."

I like them very much and began of thinking to design them as quilt pattern.

The service matches your WordPress profile information to the email address.

But this is a private information, you say. That is the reason I stopped making anything.

Till yesterday when realized that any string of characters can be converted as avatar.

Hеllo, happy birthday, love, happiness, mum, dad etc.

I began with thankyou! and designed it as a 12” paper pieced block.

 

 

 I made a cushion case to test the pattern.

 

 

 Love it! 

Then played with EQ7 and add more colors.

Tessellating Hearts pattern

I love tessellation. Each time I can combine shapes in tessellation mode I am happy.
One month ago started design an anniversary quilt.
What is the most suitable shape than a heart. But not common simply heart already known.

I think to change some of the hearts with pictures of the mutual life during all 20 years. 20 hearts for 20 Years.
When test the pattern I make a placemat. Fast and easy work.

It is based on 6 inches block.
The pattern is very versatile so you can add so many block you need to have the desired size.

 Great scrap buster, easy to sew.

My quilt will be based on 12 inches block. It is easy to enlarge or I will add the measures for 10 and 12 inches blocks at the pattern soon.

There was a boy - paper pieced stuffed doll

The work goes easy after a long time of thinking about both the idea and details.
I have made some prototypes before I got the shape right.
So proud to share with you.

I like paper piecing and design a pattern is not quite complicated to me.
After I found the perfect shape it was funny to finish the first doll, created this way.


Before stuffing:

There left a small step to the finish - sleep stitch the bottom.

The result - a nice doll to play with.

Featured and proud

What a week has began!
Last night I have seen that project "Where do you come you from"  where I participated in took part at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.
Visit the site Quilt-around-the-world  to read detailed steps of the project that took more than one year and has involved quilters from more than 83 countries.

Great news! I am happy and satisfied.

My patterns become alive

Last 3 week I have some health problems - at the beginning it was like a flu. Then it turned to stomach  disorder. As a result I loosed three kilos .
I know many of you envy me for the last fact, but trust me I am not happy about this.

In addition to these troubles after last update of my browser disappeared saved passwords on my computer  and I have to enter them for most of the places I visit. I have problems even to enter in my blog.

Tonight is lucky time for me.
After entering here I have seen that most of the visits are from Gosses bags and gifts. 
I have checked and what to see -  Myrth has made a beautiful quilt using my pattern Counting Sheep , wrote a post and mention my blog.
This is amazing!
She add some grass and a butterfly to the design and created a nice quilt.

Personalized baby bib

The nice hexie letter R I have written about some days ago was the beginning of this little project.
Some months ago my Italian friend Elisa from Dilana&Dilino-Creazioni-Patchwork has a baby.
I want to make a special gift for the baby - little Roberto.
I want to try my new pattern Hexie alphabet and choose to make letter R and apploque on this bib.

I am satisfied with the result.
Especially like the idea for quilting.
Do you remember this game when there are written letters on a sheet and you have to connect them to have a whole word?
I write the letters of the name R-o-b-e-r-t-o using first paper pieced R and FMQ for the next letters.

Then add bias binding and stitched by hand. I had to be very careful at the curves to keep the shape.
My friend Elisa is a perfect quilter,so I have to be precise.

At the end I embroidered the letters with another color to make the name more visible.

I sent the bib and began waiting for the answer.
Do you think Elisa liked it?
The answer came yesterday - lovely picture of Roberto wearing the new bib.
I am happy having such friends.
