Embroidered baby quilt

I was given this embroidered pieces some years ago, but till now haven't create anything.

Finally it came - a special friend's son has a baby.

Collected some stripes and  began the sewing.

The design is easy - almost 9 patch deconstructed, but not exactly.

For the back I have used an IKEA fabric and the quilting is like an old photo.

A midnight picture of the finished quilt.

Finishing a quilt

After finishing a 9 patch deconstructed quilt top I made a quilt sandwich and pin with safety pins.

I chosen the FMQ design and draw some lines on a sheet of paper to train my hands.

The FMQ design is easy even for beginners.

Look at the back how it turned out.

This time made a wider binding finished with running stitch on the back.

First made the long sides. Cut 5 inch wide stripes and stitch on the front side.

Fold on the back with running stitch which is not visible from the top.

The stripes for the upper and down sides has to be half inch longer.

Stitched the corner and then turned over.

Personalized baby bib

The nice hexie letter R I have written about some days ago was the beginning of this little project.
Some months ago my Italian friend Elisa from Dilana&Dilino-Creazioni-Patchwork has a baby.
I want to make a special gift for the baby - little Roberto.
I want to try my new pattern Hexie alphabet and choose to make letter R and apploque on this bib.

I am satisfied with the result.
Especially like the idea for quilting.
Do you remember this game when there are written letters on a sheet and you have to connect them to have a whole word?
I write the letters of the name R-o-b-e-r-t-o using first paper pieced R and FMQ for the next letters.

Then add bias binding and stitched by hand. I had to be very careful at the curves to keep the shape.
My friend Elisa is a perfect quilter,so I have to be precise.

At the end I embroidered the letters with another color to make the name more visible.

I sent the bib and began waiting for the answer.
Do you think Elisa liked it?
The answer came yesterday - lovely picture of Roberto wearing the new bib.
I am happy having such friends.

Polka dots - new baby quilt

The story began with a kid duvets and set of sheets for a baby. They are so sweet and grandmother-to-be want to have a baby quilt and sleeping bag for her first grandson.
The room is decorated vintage style and she want to surprise her daughter (future mom) with this present.
Here are the sheets.

And the pillow cases.

The quilt has to be the same style and colors.
I decided Polka dots similar colors will be perfect addition to the set.
The cubes I have designed earlier will fit in the center of the quilt.
New version of the cubes is available here.
Immediately began drawing and calculated the fabrics.

First I have paper pieced the cubes and gathered them.
I decided applique on a rectangle and make a frame with squares.
Folded the cube's edges by iron without removing paper, then torn off and appliqued.

Next step was to cut squares. If you have jelly rolls by hand they are perfect stash for this quilt.
The small squares are 2.5". The stripes are 2.5", too.
The big squares are 4.5".

I have ordered 4 of the squares on the table and have sewn them together.

I have gather squares randomly keep in mind to put "the warm" colors next to "the cold" ones.

Order all the finished 4.5" squares in 2 rows to create frame.

Then stitched to the center rectangle with appliqued cubes, quilted by hand and bound.
Here is the finished quilt.

I have made a sleeping bag in addition.

And small pieces which has left place on a cardboard to make a card.

Dear Victor, welcome to this world!
Wish you the most beautiful life full with surprises and miracles!.

After some discussions about size, closure (zipper or buttons) and batting's thickness I am happy to introduce the second part of baby present.

The sleeping bag!

And the back.

And opened

Come on,  little baby!

I wish you the sweetest dreams.

Baby weenie dog mug rug

Finally he is here.

Do you remember my post  and my words about dog's family.

I haven't forget, but like in real life it is needed some time for the babies.
And he is here - cute small puppy with pampers and bib sitting on a cushion in front of a table and eating from a cup.

I love him.

And  hope you love him, too.

Grab the pattern from ETSY or CRAFTSY shop.
You like it, but can't sew. Don't worry I offer it for sale HERE.

Baby shower set

I was invited to a baby shower and had to sew something in one day..
I had knew about the birth and think I have time to make a quilt.
Alas! I had to finish another project and have limited time.
This is the fastest project I ever made.
Baby shoes and a bib with the same fabrics.
The bib is my design.
The baby is a little boy.  Like two fabrics for the shoes, but have buttons for checked one.
Add recycled jeans for the soles and inside. The shoes are so cute.

And so small.

From the rests designed a bib. It is very easy to sew.

Paper pieced first letter of the name -  I offer the entire alphabet here.
For fastening I add a magnet button - more safety than velcro tapes.
Quilt by hand - running stitch round the letter and within 3 hours I was finished.
Waiting for pictures of the little boy with shoes I show you this one.

The result of my Weekend's creations

I have executed all my plans for weekend. The baby quilt from the beginning till the end. All was doing well. Each block happened easy. Some problems I have with quilting - the size is about 90x120 cm. But I like the final result.

I have added a label on the back side - hand embroidered by me.
The second task was about Christmas stars - two stars for Charity quilt. I have combined rests from my previous projects. Look pretty!

The last task - the Day of Christian family - great evening. I was too busy to take pictures :)
