Counting sheep and the baby quilt

Have the babies to count sheep for falling asleep?

I am not sure. Especially when they have a loving grandmas that prepare warming quilts.

Judy Collier bought my pattern Counting Sheep and made this beautiful quilt for her "grandchild on the way".

When I asked her to send picture of finished quilt I was not expected to receive something. You know, people are too busy nowdays and  full with e-mails, messages and pictures.

I was wrong!

She was so kind to send pictures and surprised me with finished baby quilt.

Look at this amazing  result!

Look at the quilting she had chosen. So many sheep up to the hills.

During the process of sewing she asked me for assistance - she had idea to put the grass between the sheep, but nowhere through internet she found a pattern.

I was glad to design some blocks, even suggested to make a mirror images for having more grass paper pieced blocks.

Thank you, Judy, for this idea, I will add to the pattern.

So happy to have such customers.

They make me proud with my designing abilities and computer skills.

Easter eggs and COVID-19

The Quarantine.
It came suddenly although I have red many articles about corona virus in China.
Now I am sitting at home and trying to be calm.
There are appear activities that were forgotten : listening to the opera, learning foreign languages, tidy often, clean basic,  etc.
Sewing more by hand is used as a therapy.
Some years ago I designed an Easter egg using English paper piecing.
It take between one hour and one hour and a half, but the result can make happy the future owner of the egg,
This time I tried fussy cutting. The Easter is in the spring and flowers are perfect idea.
You can try letter, chicken, bunnies, etc. Personalized your creations.

I have tried even indigo died fabrics stitching with red thread.

Enjoy the hand stitching!

Personalized heart

The New Year arrived with many expectations.
The great news here: I am totally recovered from shoulder pain. I promise never stop making exercises and take a rest every hour when sewing or sitting in front of computer.
By the way if somebody has such problem don't hesitate to write me for support. I have collected many useful videos with exercises which are helpful.

So the new pattern arrived right for Valentine's day.
If you like to make happy your beloved one make a cushion with a heart personalized by his letter.

The pattern is designed with letter A and you can download.
Need another letter?
Simply add a message after purchase and I will send manually.

What about making a bunting flags with the letters of whole name?
Do you know that one of most popular names in USA is Ava?

You can put inside any letter from the funny alphabet.

The heart is made as a frame and it is easy to put inside any picture if you don't want to add a letter.

Enjoy sewing!

New tote for the new school year

I can't believe I forgot to post this tote here.
Better late than never :)

I made it for a friend's daughter who wants to be different.
 Stay out of the crowd!
The colorful pencil is standing away from other.

The back is recycled denim.

The pencil are easy to made. Paper pieced block is the same for all of them, but with different length.
Oh, I have made two of them mirror image to have variety of looks.

It is a kid game to draw a block .

Easy to combine different length pencils in a whole block to use it as a panel in a tote, pouch or a cushion.

Happy sewing!

Time for Christmas or Christmas time

The preparations began right after Halloween. Or much more earlier in July.
When do you begin?
For me is different every year.
It depends of the mood and the weather.
Now outside is a splendid autumn so thinking and preparing something for Christmas is almost impossible.
But designing this Christmas tree was so fast and funny.

After drawing with EQ7 began coloring .
At the beginning the tree was very bold - only in green colors.

After one false movement of the mouse there appeared  new possibilities.

Different background looks like the winding way, don't you think?

Check soon for next trees.
I have some ideas about.

The digital seasons

I am happy!
Finally decided on binding of the wall hanging The Digital seasons.

The idea is to add small pieces of all fabrics I used as printing colors on the selvage.
The whole wall hanging is full of metaphoras - the fabrics I have chosen are connected with the colors of the seasons, the size of the blocks is different acording to my love to the seasons.
I love fall and hate winter.
Even the FMQ is corresponding to the seasons - wavy traces for the winter and blue water brooks for the spring.

I definatelly fall in love with these gravatars!

The Gravatar passion continues

One month!
I can not believe it has gone one month without posting here.
Uploading picture on Flickr seems to be an action from last century.
Instagram with device in a palm and fast comments pushed himself to the most usable media.
Anyway I will try to post once a month or often.

The gravatar passion continues. I have designed all the seasons and make them in a wall hanging.
Not finished yet but waiting for binding :)
After Summer gravatar I make the Spring.

Easy to sew you can make it different sizes.

Here comes the Autumn.

The more complicated pieces are the central ones. The easiest way to stitch them is freezer paper.
Fast and accurate method when needed to sew many simple and repeated blocks.

I used hand dyed fabrics to sew all the gravatars.

Finished wall hanging will be in next post with the pattern of winter.

Summer gravatar

I am hooked on designing gravatars. After spring pattern hot summer is coming
For this one I used hand dyed fabrics and batiks that remind me summer heat, summer colors. Pretty much satisfied with the result. As background I have used many pieces - different shades of white .

If you are more confident with freezer paper don't hesitate to use it.
You will save time with no tearing off the paper.

Combine some different colors - you will have a sunny baby quilt.

20 blessed years

These days the most popular news is the Royal wedding in English royal family.
On the same island, but with 20 years history live another couple. You might say they have an ordinary life. Probably you are right, probably not.
These 20 years were blessed with love, two beautiful girls and many incredible memories.
When she asked me to create a quilt as a anniversary gift for him I felt special. I wanted to make a different quilt, quilt that gather all 20 years and all love in this family.
I have been thinking out more than a month, discussed many ideas and finally designed a quilt.
It is base on my pattern Tessellating hearts quilt.

But it is more than this base.
At the very first beginning I have chosen some fabrics.
Then added more and almost made a mess on the floor.

I have added some paper pieced blocks connected with their lifetime.

I designed a post box as a postage stamp. The narrow stripped stripe is associated with stamp edges.

Made this as a sign of infinity love.

And finally the top turned out absolutely gorgeous.
I have no doubt how to quilt it.
The spiral looks the only possible way. it begin from the center, goes through blocks corresponding to the life way and finally on the boarder I wrote the names of the family members.
Awesome result!
When found this place for taking pics without anybody's assistance I was truly lucky.

P.S. As usual I made a card with leftovers from sewing, short story and care instructions.

Oh , forget to show the back. Rainy drops in both mint and sky blue.
There are many rainy days in England. :)

 The label

What more - it is a real LOVE story.
